La cerimonia di premiazione del 1° Concorso europeo della ceramica non è che la conclusione di un percorso iniziato oltre un anno fa. E'allora che l'Amministrazione Comunale di Nove ha deciso di proporre e organizzare un'iniziativa, di richiamo internazionale, che stimolasse l'interesse e la curiosità nei confronti della produzione della ceramica. Di qui l'idea del Concorso con l'obiettivo preciso di coinvolgere non solo i ceramisti e gli artisti, bensì il designer, gli architetti, i professionisti dell'immagine e del look, che spesso e volentieri dettano le linee del gusto nell'arredamento e non solo. Senza dimenticare però i giovani, soprattutto gli studenti degli istituti d'arte, che costituiscono il futuro del progettare e del fare la ceramica. Per tutti un'unica sfida: disegnare e realizzare "l'oggetto per la tavola" nell'ottica di quell'arte applicata che sola può dare respiro alle realtà produttive, vivacizzando un mercato piuttosto scontato. La sede più indicata per lanciare il progetto si è rivelata ovviamente il Museo Civico della Ceramica di Nove inaugurato nel 1995, impostosi come centro culturale e di promozione delle ricchezze del territorio. L'adesione riscontrata è stata una conferma più che lusinghiera della validità della formula: circa 600 gli iscritti provenienti da tutto il mondo in rappresentanza, con l'Italia dal nord al sud, di 26 paesi: Austria, Belgio, Repubblica Ceca, Croazia, Germania, Danimarca, Spagna, Francia, Grecia, Ungheria, Islanda, Lettonia, Gran Bretagna, Irlanda, Scozia, Stati Uniti, Giappone, Malta, Polonia, Olanda, Norvegia, Portogallo, Svezia, Svizzera e Turchia. I concorrenti che hanno presentato le loro opere sono stati 210: 177 della categoria A (artisti, ceramisti, designer, architetti) e 33 della categoria B (studenti), a nome degli istituti d'arte più importanti a livello nazionale. Prove davvero d'autore che hanno costretto la giuria, presieduta da Gian Carlo Boiani, ad un difficile lavoro di scrematura. Questo spiega il numero piuttosto alto di "selezionati", 66 di 11 nazioni diverse, le cui performance, comprese quelle vincitrice, danno corpo alla mostra allestita in Museo e aperta al pubblico dal 12 settembre al 31 dicembre. In vetrina, centri tavola, servizi da the e da caffè, vasi, piatti, vassoi e candelabri: variazioni sul tema sicuramente suggestive e innovative. Un buonissimo biglietto da visita per la prossima edizione, quella dopo il 2000.
